This homing pigeon was just one of about 50 flying about the willow trees near Millmead Lock in Guildford. We no doubt all know they have often been used to deliver the news through the ages. Perhaps they flew in from Trafalgar Square in London. At least it is not illegal to feed them in Guildford. The trick is to press the shutter at the right moment with the right speed setting to allow the wings to blur. This image shows its swept back wings and outstretched claws a split second before landing.
