Help !
If you are unfamiliar with mounting and frames don't worry, drop me an email telling me what you would like to achieve and I will provide some advice and further information. A good mount and frame can make so much difference to your long-term enjoyment of the picture.

Further print choice, extended fade resistance, mounting and framing options, including canvas prints will be posted on this site later but are currently available by email ordering at extra charges.

The above material will fade if left in direct sunlight so use glass frames on shaded walls to give many years service. As a guide only, as I have no way of applying accelerated testing, you can expect in the order of up to 25 years under glass as above before any appreciable fading occurs according to recent inkjet print reports. Please see detailed recommendations in the terms and conditions below.

If fade resistance is particularly important please contact me for advice. Extended fade resistance prints (up to 70 years plus under glass according to recent independent test reports, although some manufactuirers claims are up to 100 years) and canvas prints are available at 10% extra charge now. Extended fade resistance does come at a cost though of a reduced colour brilliance according to photographic and computer press sources, although this is very subjective and also depends on the colours and contrast in the picture subject.

Returns policy:
30 day no-quibble return policy is provided on trust because I want you to be delighted with your purchase, but print must be returned in excellent condition and well packed. If the item arrives to you damaged I want to know about it. I need the goods back to make the complaint to the carriers or print/frame/mount service and despatch a replacement to you as soon as possible. Alternatively a full refund of money paid is available. Currently return postage must be paid by you though.

Terms and Conditions

The purpose of these terms and conditions is to be fair and provide a good service. They will be changed from time to time as our business expands.

The terms and conditions that follow will become part of all contracts for the provisions of photography service by Chris Barnes (or his representative and hereafter-named "the photographer"), unless otherwise agreed in writing.

Where a commission is booked the photographer will attend at the time and place specified on the booking form and in addition at such additional places as may be agreed with the client and confirmed in writing.

The photographer will use his best endeavours to provide you with a satisfactory service and will use all proper care and skill in taking the photographs.

In all cases any failure of performance by the Photographer will not be regarded as a breach of contract if it is caused by circumstances beyond the Photographer's control. This includes acts of God, breakdown of equipment, or any other cause classified and understood as "force majeur".

For commissioned work, all prices assume in-house camera equipment only. Digital or film equipment must remain photographer's choice. In the event of an equipment failure and there is no alternative equipment available the shoot will be repeated at the same location or another by mutual consent at no extra charge at a time mutually agreed. The Photographer cannot be held responsible for the unavailability of the location, subject or model in such cases.
Deposits are non-returnable unless the Photographer is unable to attend on the date stated on the Booking Form.

In all cases the Photographer cannot be held responsible for circumstances beyond their control, such as film or film laboratory processing, printing or mounting faults, or equipment failures, however best efforts will be made to anticipate or correct any problems that arise. The Photographer's liability in the event of any defect or failure of photographs or services supplied will be limited to the return of all sums previously paid.

Copyright:-

In accordance with the 1988 UK Copyright Act, Copyright and publishing rights remain with the Photographer for all photographs taken or supplied. Rights are reserved to use such photographs for display and advertising unless specifically agreed in writing to the contrary. Please note that under the current copyright law copying of the photographs in any form, including digitally scanning or copying digital files supplied is an offence.
Additional exclusive use rights only available subject to additional negotiated charge

Model Release:-
Where commissioned work is undertaken, all prices assume in signing the booking form you assign full copyright of these photographs to the above mentioned photographer together with the right of reproduction either in whole or in part. You also agree that the Photographer or licensees or assignees can use the above mentioned photographs either separately or together, either in whole or in part, in any way and in any medium. The Photographer and licensees or assignees may have unrestricted use of these photographs for whatever purpose, including advertising, with any reasonable retouching or alteration. You agree that where the photographs include people or personally identifiable items or animals or pets any reproductions shall be deemed to represent an imaginary person, item or animal or pet. You further agree that the Photographer or any person authorised by or acting on his or her behalf may use the above mentioned photographs or any reproductions of them for any advertising purpose or for the purpose of illustrating any wording, and agree that no such wording shall be considered to be attributed to you personally unless your name is used. Provided your name is not mentioned in connection with any other statement or wording which may be attributed to you personally, you undertake not to prosecute or to instigate proceedings, claims or demands against either the Photographer or his agents in respect of any usage of the above mentioned photographs.

N.B. What this means is that the photographer may use them for advertising his practice or may submit the photographs to photographic agencies of his choosing, who may use the pictures in any way they choose, which may mean they are published abroad and in magazines and on a website. If you do not wish to agree to this use it may be restricted or deleted by negotiation, but this may incur an extra charge.

Prints and Proof Prints:-

Print prices quoted are professional inkjet prints and/or conventional bromide professional prints for maximum portfolio impact. Note: All photographic prints commercially available today will eventually fade on exposure to sunlight. Any photographic print should be kept in light-tight chemically neutral album or in opaque chemically neutral backed, glass fronted, picture frame with sealed edges and away from direct sunlight if permanently displayed. Please request further information if a different environment is envisaged.
The Photographer reserves the right to change specifications should the need arise.
Reprints will be charged at the reprint charge rate at the time of ordering.
Previews or proofs not returned after 3 months will be charged at the full reprint rate.

If proofs are required, these are supplied on loan and are returnable to the photographer. This allows your family and friends or business colleagues or clients up to 8 weeks after the shoot date to choose what prints are required to order. The order form is then completed and returned with the proofs to the Photographer.

Date of the Shoot:-

The date stated as the Shoot date on the Booking Form is only reserved once the Photographer has received the completed booking form and the deposit, unless agreed previously in writing. Should the date be reserved by oral agreement prior to receipt of the deposit and booking form the date will be held for a maximum of 21 days from agreement being given.
Should the date of the shoot be changed the Photographer will make his best endeavours to accommodate this, but reserves the right to charge an additional Booking Fee.
The Photographer reserves the right to charge for extra waiting time at his standard rates should the subject or subjects of the photographs not be available at the agreed times.

Terms of payment: -
